William M. Thomas Air Terminal
Features
The new state-of-the-art terminal facility covers approximately 63,800 square feet and has three air-conditioned jet bridges. The terminal is located on a hill, so that ticketing, jet boarding, and baggage claim are on one level. This provides easier access for disabled and elderly passengers. Limited ground-level boarding, accessible by both elevators and escalators, is also available. Outside William M. Thomas Air Terminal
Inside William M. Thomas Air Terminal The building has been designed to be fully expandable to meet the future demands for air service in Kern County. The initial phase of the building can accommodate up to six jet-boarding bridges and can be expanded toward the runway to add six more for a total of 12 bridges/gates.
Furthermore, the terminal has been designed so that another wing can be added that will accommodate an additional 12 jet-boarding bridges for a total of 24 bridges/gates. The design of the building is such that future expansion will not be visible to the public and will not interrupt passenger flow or service levels.

The new air service terminal is equipped with the latest in security technology including monitoring systems, access control systems, and cameras. In addition, FIDS and BIDS displays throughout the terminal present up-to-the-minute flight and baggage displays as well as provide local information, advertising, individual messaging, and emergency broadcast information. Passengers have access to the Internet via dial-up, high-speed, or wireless connections.
