| In June 2009, Meadows Field was awarded a stimulus grant to improve Taxiway Alpha at the William M. Thomas Terminal, based on bids received on May 20, 2009. Bowman Asphalt, Inc. was the lowest of three bidders with a bid of $2,145,219.95. |

| The construction contract with Bowman was executed by the Board of Supervisors on June 23, 2009. Construction is scheduled to start on July 6, 2009 and be completed in October of this year. |

This project involves improvements to the 75 ft. wide x 11,000 ft. long Taxiway A, the parallel taxiway that serves the main runway at Meadows Field. The work includes:
- Preparation of existing pavement to receive new asphalt overlayment
- Fabric and asphalt overlayment
- New taxiway painting
- New taxiway LED edge lights
- Removal of 93 existing guidance signs
- Installation of 84 new guidance signs
- Installation of 9 new distance remaining signs
- Airfield lighting and control system upgrades

| The project is funded entirely by an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant administered by the Federal Aviation Administration. The total grant amount is $2,725,219. This includes the construction cost, as well as design, testing, inspection, environmental review, and administration costs. |

| In accordance with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), all information concerning federal stimulus fund awards must be made available to the public. In addition, stimulus monies spent on local construction projects must be used for specific goals and stimulus projects must be managed carefully to avoid waste and cost overruns. |
